Appraisers for University Park and Southern Methodist University are close to choosing properties to use in determining the value of city land the school is seeking to buy.

Once homes to be used as comparable sales have been picked, the appraisal should be relatively simple, City Manager Bob Livingston said.

Vote: No Change in Speed Limit - University Park

A University Park committee on Tuesday voted unanimously against lowering the speed limit from 30 to 25 miles per hour on residential streets. Mockingbird Construction on Schedule

As crews remain hard at work reconstructing Mockingbird Lane, Park Cities drivers can rest assured they won’t be inconvenienced any longer than originally promised. Despite a few hiccups, the $13.9 million project to reconstruct Mockingbird Lane between Hillcrest Avenue and the Dallas North Tollway remains on schedule. Full Story

University Park Artist Makes Top 20 in New Yorker Contest

"Nearly 300 drawings poured in to suggest redefinitions of Eustace Tilley, "the presiding dandy" of The New Yorker magazine.

Entries ranged from the "erotic to the pontifical," according to staff. There was "Leather Daddy Eustace" by an artist from California. And "Torched Tilley" by a Floridian.

Jennifer Culbertson of University Park submitted "Henri Touleustace La Tilley" at the last minute.

The magazine ran a few of the winners in its anniversary issue, which portrays Eustace as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama on the cover. Other winners were posted on the magazine's Web site.

Two other winners were from Texas – Ben Rollman of Pfugerville and David DeGrand of Fort Worth." - Dallas Morning News
